How Bevan’s Own Make Candy Began
Marty Bevan began making candy in 1954 in his home in Media, Pennsylvania. He and his wife soon became known for their delicious, quality candies. The store was opened in 1959.
His son Marty and daughter-in-law soon became part of the business. Soon, people heard about the hand-made chocolates and other treats. The store expanded. The candy store and factory had now become a favorite stop for many from all over Delaware County.
With the shop well established as a reliable provider of quality candies, they were happy to see many customers lined up for the open house in 1979, when the store celebrated it’s 20th anniversary.
Their son Randy recalls helping out around the candy store as a boy, aged 5. Whether it was sweeping, folding boxes, or saying hello to customers, he was a part of the family business from a very young age.
Like his grandfather, Randy went to school to enrich his knowledge of the craft. He attended Retail Confectioners International in Erie, Pa. Randy now operates the store and spends time making chocolates and candies using the same quality equipment and molds that have been making candies at Bevan’s for over six decades.
